Counsel-of-record or equally informed counsel must attend the Case Management Conference; appearance counsel is not sufficient.

Non-appearances at calendared hearings will result in orders to show cause regarding sanctions.

All motion hearing dates must be reserved in advance on the Court Reservation System at www.lacourt.ca.gov.

Motions in limine are heard during the Final Status Conference.

Ex parte applications are heard at 9:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and must comply with California Rules of Court, rules 3.1200-3.1207, include a proposed order, and have the filing fee paid before appearing.

Ex parte applications and supporting documents must be electronically filed by 10:00 a.m. the day before the hearing; written opposition must be filed by 8:30 a.m. the day of the hearing.

To request an informal discovery conference, parties must file a stipulation jointly requesting the IDC, briefly summarizing the discovery at issue and meet-and-confer efforts, along with a proposed order.

Failure to timely file the required Joint Statement will result in the IDC being taken off calendar.

Counsel and self-represented parties with full authority to stipulate must participate in the IDC in person.

Jury trials are conducted Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a break from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.; non-jury trials generally are conducted Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Trial document binders and motion in limine binders must be delivered to Department 3 by 4:00 p.m. at least 5 court days before the Final Status Conference.

Trial counsel for all parties and self-represented parties must appear in person for the Final Status Conference.

In any trial without a court reporter, parties must prepare a joint settled statement at the end of each trial day, to be filed before the next day's trial.

Failure to timely file a joint statement for status conferences regarding mediation and discovery will result in an order to show cause for sanctions.
