District of Connecticut

The District of Connecticut holds court in New Haven, Hartford, and Bridgeport, serving one of the wealthiest states in the nation. It has eight authorized judgeships and frequently handles complex financial-fraud, insurance, and securities litigation given Connecticut's concentration of financial services firms. The New Haven courthouse served as the venue for the landmark United States v. Amistad case in 1840.
