Court Rules

District of Hawaii

dhi9th Circuit
3 judges

The District of Hawaii, holding court at the Prince Kuhio Federal Building in Honolulu, is the only federal district court located entirely outside the continental United States in the Pacific. The district has three authorized judgeships and handles a unique caseload that includes Native Hawaiian land rights, Jones Act maritime claims, and tourism-related litigation. Its geographic position midway between Asia and the continental U.S. also makes it a venue for trans-Pacific trade and shipping disputes.
