Judge Susan D. Wigenton was appointed to the District of New Jersey by President George W. Bush in 2006, having previously served as a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the same district from 2000 to 2006.
Born in Neptune Township, New Jersey, Judge Wigenton earned her undergraduate degree from Norfolk State University and her law degree from the College of William & Mary Law School. She clerked for Judge Lawrence M. Lawson of the New Jersey Superior Court before entering private practice at Giordano, Halleran & Ciesla, P.C. in Middletown, New Jersey, where she was a Partner/Shareholder. She also served as the Public Defender for the City of Asbury Park.
