District of Puerto Rico

dpr1st Circuit
3 judges

The District of Puerto Rico, established in 1900 following the Spanish-American War, sits at the William A. Beckett Federal Building and United States Courthouse in San Juan. It is the only federal district where proceedings are routinely conducted in both English and Spanish. The district handles an exceptionally high volume of drug-trafficking and immigration cases given Puerto Rico's geographic position in the Caribbean.
