Eastern District of Michigan

The Eastern District of Michigan, headquartered at the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse in Detroit, is the largest and busiest federal district in the Sixth Circuit with 15 authorized judgeships. The district has been central to decades of automobile-industry litigation, including the historic Chrysler and General Motors bankruptcy proceedings in 2009. Detroit's federal court also oversaw one of the longest-running desegregation orders in U.S. history.
