Eastern District of North Carolina

The Eastern District of North Carolina holds court in Raleigh, Wilmington, Greenville, Elizabeth City, Fayetteville, and New Bern, covering 44 counties in the eastern portion of the state. Fort Liberty (formerly Fort Bragg) — one of the largest military installations in the world — sits within the district, generating a significant military-justice and veteran-related caseload. The district has seven authorized judgeships.
