Eastern District of Oklahoma

The Eastern District of Oklahoma holds court in Muskogee, covering the eastern portion of the state including the historic Five Civilized Tribes territories. The district has one authorized judgeship and handles extensive tribal sovereignty, Indian Country criminal jurisdiction, and treaty-rights litigation, particularly in the wake of the McGirt v. Oklahoma ruling. The Muskogee courthouse serves a predominately rural and Native American population across 26 counties.
