Middle District of Alabama

The Middle District of Alabama holds court in Montgomery, Anniston, Dothan, and Opelika, serving the central portion of the state. The district has three authorized judgeships and Montgomery's role as Alabama's state capital means it handles a large share of challenges to Alabama laws and state-government employment matters. The district was central to landmark civil rights litigation in the 1950s and 1960s.
