Middle District of Tennessee

The Middle District of Tennessee, headquartered at the Estes Kefauver Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Nashville, serves the central portion of the state including Nashville, Columbia, and Cookeville. The district has four authorized judgeships and a growing docket driven by Nashville's rapid population growth, including significant entertainment-industry and music-copyright litigation. Senator Estes Kefauver, for whom the courthouse is named, chaired the landmark Senate Organized Crime hearings in 1950.
