Southern District of Alabama

The Southern District of Alabama, headquartered in Mobile, covers the southwestern corner of Alabama including the Port of Mobile — the Gulf Coast's largest port by tonnage. The district has three authorized judgeships and its caseload is shaped significantly by maritime admiralty law, offshore oil-and-gas litigation, and the chemical and aerospace manufacturing industries centered on the Mobile Bay region. The Mobile courthouse is located in the historic Spring Hill area of downtown.
