Magistrate Judge Lisette M. Reid was appointed to the Southern District of Florida on January 3, 2019. Born in Trinidad, West Indies, she moved with her family to the United States at age six. She began her legal career as a judicial law clerk to a Missouri Supreme Court justice, then joined the U.S. Attorney General's Honors Program and served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Florida, a position she held from 1995 until her appointment to the bench.
