Southern District of Iowa

The Southern District of Iowa holds court in Des Moines, Council Bluffs, Davenport, and Ottumwa, serving the southern half of the state including the capital. The district has three authorized judgeships and Des Moines's role as an insurance-industry capital generates a distinctive caseload of insurance coverage, ERISA, and financial-services disputes. Council Bluffs, across the Missouri River from Omaha, is the western terminus of the original transcontinental railroad.
