Southern District of Illinois

The Southern District of Illinois, headquartered in East St. Louis with court also held in Benton and Alton, covers the southern third of the state including the Metro-East St. Louis region. The district has four authorized judgeships and has historically been a significant venue for asbestos personal-injury litigation, as several mass-tort cases were once concentrated there. It borders the Mississippi River across from St. Louis, Missouri.
