Western District of Arkansas

The Western District of Arkansas holds court in Fort Smith, El Dorado, Fayetteville, Harrison, Hot Springs, and Texarkana, covering the mountainous western half of Arkansas. The district has three authorized judgeships and a caseload shaped by Walmart's corporate headquarters in Bentonville, which generates significant commercial, employment, and supply-chain litigation. The Fort Smith courthouse was once the domain of 'Hanging Judge' Isaac Parker, who presided over the Indian Territory in the 1870s and 1880s.
