Western District of Missouri

The Western District of Missouri holds court in Kansas City, Jefferson City, Joplin, and Springfield, covering the western portion of the state. The district has six authorized judgeships and Kansas City's role as a major agricultural-commodities trading center generates significant futures and financial-fraud litigation. The district was established in 1857 and its Kansas City courthouse is a landmark Art Deco building.
