Western District of Virginia

The Western District of Virginia holds court in Abingdon, Big Stone Gap, Charlottesville, Danville, Harrisonburg, Lynchburg, and Roanoke, covering a large swath of the Appalachian and Shenandoah Valley regions. The district has four authorized judgeships and a caseload shaped significantly by opioid litigation and coal-industry disputes. Roanoke serves as the administrative headquarters.
