Middle District of Pennsylvania

The Middle District of Pennsylvania holds court in Scranton, Harrisburg, and Williamsport, covering a geographically diverse stretch of central Pennsylvania from the Wyoming Valley to the Susquehanna River corridor. The district has six authorized judgeships and a notable caseload that includes prisoner civil-rights petitions from several large state correctional facilities in the region. It was established as a separate district in 1901.
