Senior District Judge Maxine M. Chesney was appointed to the Northern District of California by President William J. Clinton in 1995.
Judge Chesney was born in 1942 in San Francisco, California. She was nominated on January 24, 1995, confirmed on May 8, 1995, and received her commission on May 13, 1995. She transitioned to senior status effective June 30, 2009. Before her federal appointment, she served for sixteen years on the California state courts.
