Magistrate Judge Thomas S. Hixson was appointed to the Northern District of California in 2018.
Judge Hixson brings nearly 20 years as a litigator in private practice in San Francisco before joining the bench. His practice focused on intellectual property, antitrust, unfair competition, energy regulation, water management, and telecommunications litigation in federal and state courts. He clerked for Ninth Circuit Judge A. Wallace Tashima and has served as past chair of the California State Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section.
