Judge Kennelly clerked for Judge Prentice Marshall of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from 1982 to 1984, then was in private practice in Chicago from 1984 to 1999. He has served as a member of the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation since 2019. He assumed senior status on October 7, 2021.
