Magistrate Judge Shaniek Mills Maynard was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Florida in June 2017. She is assigned to the Fort Pierce courthouse, presiding over cases from Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, and Highlands counties. Before her judicial appointment, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney prosecuting violent crimes, human trafficking, and white-collar fraud, and also served as Executive Director of the Roundtable of St. Lucie County. She began her legal career as a litigation associate at Shearman & Sterling LLP in Washington, D.C. and clerked for a federal district judge in Maryland.
