All trial memoranda, proposed jury instructions, and other trial submissions are due no later than 7 court days before trial.

All submissions to Judge Cary must be made via e-working copies (KCMS).

Court attire is required for Zoom appearances.

Log in to Zoom at least 10 minutes before the scheduled meeting time.

Test your internet connection prior to appearing in court via Zoom.

Ensure witnesses and clients have watched Virtual Meeting Tips and practice with them before the hearing.

Do not email Judge Cary directly; all correspondence must go through her bailiff.

If you need a copy of the CD from a digitally recorded hearing, notify the Courtroom Clerk before the hearing.

Dispositive motions are generally set on Friday mornings at 9, 10, or 11 am, and you must schedule at least 2 months in advance.

Motions for restraining orders, preliminary injunctions, revisions, and class certification hearings are granted oral argument.

In civil cases, the Witness Examination Time Form must be completed by all parties and submitted with pre-trial memoranda 14 court days before trial.

Deposition designations and objections must be provided to the court at least 7 days before trial.

General trial schedule is Monday through Wednesday or Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with breaks.

Civil non-dispositive motions and sentence modification hearings are heard at 8:30 am and 1:00 pm; 8:30 am hearings must conclude by 8:55 am, and 4:00 pm hearings by 4:25 pm.

Civil cases assigned to Judge Cary may be reassigned to another judge on Thursday afternoon before trial; parties must still comply with all pre-trial deadlines.

At the end of each trial day, all counsel and parties must be prepared to disclose the witnesses they intend to call the following day.
