U.S. District Judge Ernest Gonzalez was appointed to the Western District of Texas by President Joseph R. Biden in 2024.
Before his federal appointment, Judge Gonzalez served as a Senior Attorney Advisor in the Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Section of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice (2023–2024), as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Texas (2004–2023), and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Western District of Texas (2000–2004). He began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Bexar County (1994–2000). Judge Gonzalez is fluent in English and Spanish.
