Western District of Texas

The Western District of Texas, covering a vast geographic area that includes Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, Waco, Del Rio, Midland-Odessa, and Pecos, is the second-largest federal judicial district in the country by land area. The Waco Division, under Judge Alan Albright, became the nation's leading patent venue from 2019 to 2022. The district has 13 authorized judgeships and a border-division caseload dominated by drug-trafficking and immigration matters.
