District Judge Jorge L. Alonso was appointed to the Northern District of Illinois by President Barack Obama in 2014.
Judge Alonso was born in Sagua La Grande, Cuba. Before his federal appointment, he served as an associate judge on the Illinois Cook Judicial Circuit Court from 2003 to 2014. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Public Defender in the Office of the Cook County Public Defender from 1991 to 2003. He is an adjunct professor at the John Marshall Law School.
